How One Woman is Leading an Innovative Sushi Team in a Mostly Male Niche

Sushi, once a strictly male dominated niche, has become more open to the growth of female kitchen leadership in recent years. While it’s a little more common to see females on the sushi line it is also still, unfortunately, common to see discrimination against female chefs in this environment. Shannon Kennedy, head sushi chef at Uchi, felt that pressure when she first moved into this role, but didn’t let it stop her from taking the opportunity and rising in the ranks.
